Mr. Hobgood is a founding member of the firm. Mr. Hobgood obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Economics, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, in the Honors Program, from the University of Georgia in 1979. He graduated, cum laude, with a J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1983 where he was the Vice Chairman of the Moot Court Society.
Mr. Hobgood was a general practitioner in his home town of Calhoun, Georgia, for two years before moving with his wife and family to Atlanta to focus on litigation with a large, downtown firm. He founded his own firm more than 20 years ago and has represented sophisticated businesses in wide-ranging disputes through trials, arbitrations, and mediations around the United States, including contracts, real estate, construction, employment, non-competes, corporate control, tort, and insurance (on behalf of owners, developers, and policy holders). For more than 20 years, Mr. Hobgood has held the Martindale-Hubbell®, AV®, Preeminent Rating™, the highest possible peer review rating in legal ability and ethical standards as determined by the confidential opinions of members of the Bar and Judiciary.
Mr. Hobgood is admitted to practice before all Georgia courts and various federal district and circuit courts, including the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Marietta, and served as President in 2005-06.
